A gentle Sangiovese based blend with soft red fruits, herbal notes, and a touch of spice. Though the wine's roots run deep in the region's history and the blend is based on Tuscany's most representative grape, Sangiovese (60%), 385 is given a more "modern" cut with the addition of Merlot (20%), Ciliegiolo (10%) and Syrah (10%).

It slowly ages in 55hl oak barrels for six years and refines in stainless steel before bottling.

Gaja did not bottle any other Barbaresco crus, opting to use the best lots for this bottling. That decision paid off in a 2019 that sizzles with tension. The aromatics alone are captivating. Bright acids lend vibrancy to a core of beautifully delineated Nebbiolo fruit.

In the Northeast hills of Romangia Sardinia comes this fragrant Cannonau aka Grenache. Here it expresses the shallow soils with aromatic red fruits. Blood plum, Morello cherries and pomegranate. A hint of blackberry and vanilla pod with a backdrop of nutmeg, ground ginger and dried paperbark. Tannins are fine grained and dusty and there is a lasting note of autumn leaves and brown mushrooms.

Ciliegiolo, already cultivated in Maremma by the Etruscans more than two thousand years ago, is a highly appreciated variety for the aromatic intensity and roundness of its wines.
It is characterized by an intense ruby red colour. The nose reveals a bouquet of fruity aromas of cherry, sour cherry, and black cherry. The sip is juicy, with a good persistence.
