The key term here is 'sur lie' ageing, where the wine rests on its lees (spent yeast cells), adding a touch of creaminess to the texture and a hint of yeasty complexity. Atypical but fabulous Sancerre: intense golden yellow; on the nose, yellow-fleshed and tropical fruit, candied orange, vanilla, mineral notes: sumptuous; in the mouth, perfect balance, despite the high alcoholic strength, but perfectly integrated. Fine and intense retro-nasal: great wine indeed.
Aged for 20 months in oak to bring an extra dimension.
