Grenache Blend

Cairanne Villages 2021, Domaine Martin
£ 16.70
65% Grenache, 35% Syrah
The Cairanne from Domaine Martin is a fruity, tannic and warm red wine. A bouquet centered on spices (bay leaf, gray pepper) gives it a very Mediterranean accent. The palate is round, fleshy, while remaining beautifully fresh.

Cannonau di Sardegna "Inkibi" 2022, Saraja
£ 19.10
In the Northeast hills of Romangia Sardinia comes this fragrant Cannonau aka Grenache. Here it expresses the shallow soils with aromatic red fruits. Blood plum, Morello cherries and pomegranate. A hint of blackberry and vanilla pod with a backdrop of nutmeg, ground ginger and dried paperbark. Tannins are fine grained and dusty and there is a lasting note of autumn leaves and brown mushrooms.
Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2017, Domaine la Barroche
£ 43.00
62% Grenache, 18% Mourvèdre, 13% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, 1% Clairette Rose, and 1% Vaccarese.

It is full-bodied yet refined, with exceptional balance of rich fruit, tannin and acidity throughout. With classically Grenache-driven flavours of raspberry and black cherry, it also has a beautiful wild herb streak and complex mineral depth.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Croix de Bois 2014, Chapoutier
£ 63.40
Another smoking good 2014 is the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois, which like always, is 100% Grenache that comes from a site on the eastern side of the appellation, near the village of Bédarrides. Completely destemmed and aged 16 months in concrete, it offers the expected forward, fruity style of the cuvée as well as classic notes Bing cherries, blackberries, spring flowers and hints of leather.

Contino Garnacha 2019, C.V.N.E
£ 24.95

Faugeres 2020, Chateau des Adouzes, Le Tigre
£ 15.25
35% Carignan, 35% Grenache, 30% Syrah.

Intense ruby red colour. Cassis and raspberry on the nose, with hints of pepper and spice. Good structure and smooth on the palate, with fresh fruit flavours and balance.

Hancock Shiraz/Grenache 2019. McLaren Vale
£ 14.95
Restrained and supple, lots of ripe dark plum, pepper and spice of Shiraz with the rose petal perfume and red cherry flavours of Grenache. Lovely lightness and brightness to the back palate makes it terrific immediate drinking wine but it will cellar nicely for 5-10 years.
Mas Martinet Bru 2020, Priorat
£ 24.45
A blend of Garnacha, Syrah, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon.

It has matured in oak foudres and barriques (25%) with a few months at the end in terracotta amphorae.

Notes of blackcurrant, wild blackberries and bramble with a crisp, rocky finish, lightly spiced with an aromatic floral quality.

Mas Martinet Menut 2020, Priorat
£ 21.45
Rich, ripe but fresh Priorat from an exciting producer.  It’s a blend of 40% Grenache, 20% Carignan, 30% Syrah and 10% Merlot. It’s fermented in concrete tanks and then aged for 15-18 months in large old oak barrels so there is very little influence of wood on the wine’s flavour.
Massaya le Colombier 2020, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
£ 18.10
35% Granache, 35% Cinsault and 30% Tempranillo.

Spicy notes with ripe, meaty, blackberry and red fruits, and a touch of chocolate. This supple, round wine is from an exciting French-Lebanese collaboration, which owns vineyards at an altitude of 1,000 metres in the Bekaa Valley.
