Anwilka is a result of the joint venture of three brilliant winemakers: Hubert de BoŁard of Ch‚teau Angélus, Bruno Prats formerly of Cos díEstournel and Lowell Jooste previous owner of Klein Constantia. Aged for 14 months in big French oak barrel (50% new). Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry with notes of toasted spices, tobacco and hints of cassis. Fresh and vibrant on the palate, this is a medium-bodied and elegant wine with supple tannins and a very seductive finish.
Classic Napa Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry liqueur, fresh boysenberry, and black cherry. On the palate, the wine is medium-plus in body and captures pitch-perfect balance with the ideal freshness, soft, silky texture, and integrated, polished tannins that are wrapped around layered flavours of soft black fruit, leather, tobacco, cedar, cocoa, and subtle exotic spices.
Rich and luxurious, displays a lovely purity of fruit, with aromas of blackcurrant and boysenberry leading to notes of blueberry and a touch of dried herbs on the palate. Finely grained tannins and a backbone of graphite balance the plush black fruits, creating a silky mouthfeel with a smooth yet powerful finish.
This is a fantastic wine that punches far higher than its price. Brilliant bright blackcurrant and mint on the nose and a full-bodied dark fruit attack on the palate. Perfectly balanced with a delicious lingering finish. This has larger tannins than its vineyard selection little brother adding to ageing potential for 5-10 Years.
